Our first hearing of KFCP was before it had even started, we heard "Peace Education" and "wonderful teacher" and we were asking questions and rushing for the waiting list. We love the way it feels to walk into the school and see evidence of children being respected as people with contributions to their world. It's seen by in the writing and art on the walls, the way the room is set, the one on one opportunity provided, small group activities, choices given, communication skills being taught and the care that went into creating a beautiful child centered environment. It is welcoming and warm. The students are always seen, heard and incredibly cared for. Voices are low and yet there is wonder and excitement in the air. Our entire family has infinite amounts of gratitude for this home away from home for our youngest family member!

As soon as we visited Kentucky Flat Community Preschool I felt at home and so did my daughter. The beautiful location, with its lovely history offers a safe, nurturing and liberating place for children and families. There is space for each child to be themselves. The staff are incredibly talented and skilled in reaching the children's needs, supporting their play and creating a beautiful, respectful climate. Jen, the director has a beautifully gentle, inviting manner with the children. She weaves music and peaceful learning into each day. The day flows in a familiar pattern - with room for individual choices, open explorations, fun games and age appropriate learning.  The school welcomes families to become part of a vibrant, collaborative community. I love how different aspects of educational approaches such as Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio-Emilio are integrated into the school. I also really appreciated the high value placed on peaceful resolutions.  Each child is known, honored and allowed to shine in their unique way.  It is an incredibly special place where any family would be lucky to have their child. My daughter and son are two years apart, and very different, but both adore Kentucky Flat. They feel safe and happy there and never want to leave!.

I have never experienced a more serene and peaceful situation at a school for my child.  The environment is not only creative, but educational in the aspect of learning about the natural surrounding for a child to thrive

My daughter loved Kentucky Flat from the day we went to visit.  She entered the space and didn't want to leave-- she instantly felt safe, supported, and inspired to play. Every day she looked forward to going to KFCP and spent the days in between talking about all the things she had done and learned in the space and wanted to do the next time she went.  As a momma, I also felt immediately at ease.  Being new to the area, Jen and the other teachers showed me the ropes in a way that made the transition smooth and sweet. I felt that the teachers quickly loved and cared for my daughter as if she were their own child. They are creative and skillfully adapt each activity to the needs of each child.  The parent community associated with the preschool is also lovely.  We were genuinely sad to have to leave when we moved!

I had the privilege to experience the magical Jen Norris, when I worked with her at a local Headstart Preschool. About 2 years later, she told me about her Dream of opening her own space, and knowing we had the same views on Early Childhood Education and Child Development, I knew that when my Daughter was ready, Jen's place would be the perfect match for her. My Daughter is now 4 years old, and has been at Kentucky Flat for almost 2 years. She absolutely loves "Teacher Jen's House", the rest of the Teachers, and the wonderful natural environment. She gets to fully explore whatever her little Heart desires, may it be Body Painting, dancing, or sitting in Mud when the weather allows. She feels very loved by everyone.
I highly value the peaceful approach the Teachers use to guide the Children, and that my Daughter has a profound love for Mother Nature and all of it's beings.

Kentucky Flat Preschool is a wonderful, loving place for Children to fully be themselves, and to securely and lovingly explore their World. xoxo
